Rest Of My Life Lyrics

By The Kottonmouth Kings

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You can find me postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See some people gave in, but I ain’t giving up this fight
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You’ll find me old postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See I’m in love with mary jane,
I’m gonna make her my wife, yeah, yeah, yeah
For the rest of my life, yeah, yeah, yeah
For the rest of my life

Sometimes I wanna get high
Travel up away to the beautiful skies
Float away and hope to never come down
Hope to see the day that I never come down
Cause what goes up is always bound to fall
All I’m trying to say is that I live my life raw
I’m gonna smoke weed the rest of my life
And give it all I got till the day that I die, yeah
Yeah

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You can find me postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See some people gave in, but I ain’t giving up this fight
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You’ll find me old postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See I’m in love with mary jane,
I’m gonna make her my wife, yeah

You can’t see what you’re not looking for…

When I look in the mirror I feel so low
I see my eyes and I feel the glow
I know I can make do, let’s bless the sole
Show my love, and let myself go, woah
Everybody knows that I spit these flows, and I drink my beer
Smoke my weed, but my hand’s in the clear
Show your love, respect the one youre dreaming of
Woah

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You can find me postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See some people gave in, but I ain’t giving up this fight
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You’ll find me old postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See I’m in love with mary jane,
I’m gonna make her my wife, yeah, yeah, yeah
(I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life, yeah)
For the rest of my life, yeah, yeah, yeah
(I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life, yeah)
For the rest of my life

Let us plant trees that bear positive fruit
And nourish our youth with compassion and truth
Then enlighten their minds to the deepest roots
All the way to the core where their souls can stay true
I can walk free with a joint in my hand
And I can plant plants right upon my land
Help me understand these are nature’s laws
My creator had visions in the things he saw, yeah
He saw yeah, yeah, my creator had visions in the things he saw
He saw yeah, yeah, my creator had visions in the things he saw

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You can find me postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See some people gave in, but I ain’t giving up this fight
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You’ll find me old postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See I’m in love with mary jane,
I’m gonna make her my wife, yeah

Now when your love is lost, and your spirits are low
The world’s closing in around you, got no place to go
Done all that you could to ease and please another soul
And in the end you’re in the cold, another sad story told
That’s why I make my own decisions on how I’m living
Try to get by with the knowledge that I’m given
Can’t make me believe, cause a tree is a tree
And when my soul bleeds the color that I’m spillin’ is green

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
You’ll find me old postin on my porch tokin on a pipe
I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life
See I’m in love with mary jane,
I’m gonna make her my wife, yeah

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life, yeah
For the rest of my life
(Gonna smoke, gonna smoke, gonna smoke till the day I die)
(Cause we are, till we die)

I’m gonna smoke weed for the rest of my life, yeah
It’s my life

"NORML’s mission is to move public opinion sufficiently to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty." -NORML

The NORML organization was founded in 1970 as a voice for those who opposed Marijuana Prohibition. During its first ten years it was able to successively decriminalize minor marijuana offenses in 11 states. Since then the organization has made many efforts to end state and federal laws prohibiting use of marijuana.

Currently NORML’s sister organization, The “NORML” Foundation has been initiating public advertisement campaigns to better educate the public about Marijuana and alternatives to current Marijuana. This ad is one of the ones produced by the NORML Foundation. (For information about NORML please click here)

The people have spoken,  The Legalization of Marijuana has passed at a state level in Colorado and Washington State. This is the start of the end of prohibition 2.0.

In this segment of ‘The Rachel Maddow Show’ (aired December 5th, 2012), he approaches the issue of legalization of Marijuana for recreational use on both the state and federal level.

Before the idea of legalization reached our ballets, High Times Magazine was well established in the counterculture giving readers the latest and greatest news in the Cannabis World.

Founded in 1974 by Tom Forcade, High Times Magazine is devoted to the legalization of Marijuana. It was intended as a joke, a single edition lampoon of playboy where instead of sex it was marijuana. However the magazine developed an audience. Audited by ABC, It became a monthly issue with 500,000 copies sold per issue. This made High Times rival with Rolling Stone and National Lampoon. In 2009, the magazine celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Currently, High Times is going strong, with many celebrities like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Kid Kudi, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger appearing on covers or in interviews, the magazine is far from closing its printing press. In 2008, it went digital offering readers another option for obtaining the magazine.

I really enjoy reading High Times Magazine, although I am not a subscriber, I am yet to be disappointed with any issue I have sat down and read. With Legalization of Marijuana at the tip of our fingers, it is only a matter of time until new magazines with similar content develop.

 Medical Fried Chicken!

When Randy discovers the local KFC closes down and becomes a Medical Marijuana Dispensary, he does what he can to get cancer and get issued a Medical Marijuana Card!

This episode takes medical marijuana to a whole new level. When Randy discovers a dispensary in South Park, he takes extreme measures to develop cancer so he can be issued a medical marijuana card. After doing so, he convinces other people around him to do the same.

This episode opens up an issue many states have faced since the legalization of Medical Marijuana. Many people have taken extreme measures, many of which result in long term health complications just to be issued a medical marijuana card. Being from Oregon, I have met many young adults who have purposely done damage to themselves just so they can be issued a state medical marijuana card and now face long term health repercussions. This episode is directed towards these type of individuals, and mocks the extreme measures they take just so they can get “legally high”. Now that legal recreational usage is becoming a reality, many future scenarios will vanish. It still does not account for the last ten years, but overtime I feel that stories will up rise from people who took measures like this. It is just a matter of time until they are revealed.

Season 3 Episode 3 “Bob Fires the Kids”, Bob’s Burgers; Aired on Fox Network

Worried that his children are not living their summer vacation to the fullest, Bob fires his children from his restaurant in hopes of them obtaining a wonderful summer break experience. The kids get board, and decided to take jobs as weed pickers for some local hippies.

This episode is a little different than other Fox network episodes exploiting the taboo subject, because now we have children working on a weed farm. Although they never indulge on the substance, the idea of children being exposed to marijuana, even as a gardeners, is a very controversial issue. This aired October 12, 2012, and recently aired it as a re-run last Sunday March 10th, 2013.

I personally think this approach is interesting  and it is interesting that Fox, a network that claims to be fearful that such content could encourage young viewers to partake in Marijuana would allow this to be aired. In essence they are some kids picking an herb, no big deal, however other people see it in a much different manner.

WEED WEED WEED!

The term “weed fairy” fits no actress better than Mary-Louis Parker who plays Nancy Price Botwin, an upper class widow who is forced to become a weed dealer to support her and her two sons.

An Upper class housewife from Southern California is forced to sell weed after her husband Judah Botwin passes away. Nancy Botwin has mixed success when starting her taboo business, however after much work (and many mistakes) Nancy finds herself involved with the international cartel drug smugglers taking her business to a whole new level.

Weeds became the highest rated T.V. show on Showtime. By the 4th season it had attracted 1.3 million viewers , the channels highest ever viewership. In 2007, Time magazine listed Weeds in the top 10 T.V. Series of 2007, and Slate magazine stated the Nancy Botwin was one of the best characters on television that year.

To me, Weeds was one of the first shows to portray the taboo job in a ‘glamorized’ manner. It gives a viewer an inside view of the writers idea of the black market. Although many portions of it are exaggerated for entertainment purposes, the situations the character finds herself seem rather plausible should someone be in her position. Although the show does not directly endorse legalization, the image portrayed makes one see it as a better alternative.

LEGALIZE POT NOW!

The images above say it all! Family guy supports the legalization initiative to legalize recreational use of Marijuana. The episode entitled “420” (Aired April 19th, 2009, the day before the counterculture holiday) focuses on the legalization of the substance. Brian (the family dog who portrays human characteristics) is arrested for possession of Marijuana. His arrest prompts him to encourage Mayor West to legalize the substance. With the help of Stewie, he succeeds and soon finds that most people in Quahog (the town they reside in) start to indulge on the substance. The legalization helps the town improve, however after the hemp industry starts to put Louis’s Father, Carter, out of business in the timber industry, Peter  (Louis’s Husband) fights to make it illegal once again.

The show received much controversy due to the bluntness of its support for the legalization of Marijuana. In fact, Venezuelan government banned the TV show in their country because it promoted Marijuana use (For more information click here). In the US, critics reacted positively to the episode. Because of the episode Brian received the 2009 “Stoner of the Year” award from High Times Magazine (an honor in the cannabis culture).

I personally enjoyed the episode, it made many accurate cultural references. Although portions of it were exaggerated for entertainment purposes, it showed the positives and negatives to legalizing Marijuana.
